It's a Tuesday and I'm sitting at home taking it easy. Since I worked Saturday, I was given today off in exchange. I have a few errands to run, but that won't happen until it cools down a bit. I went ahead and moved my layout images to a different site, and then re-opened my flickr account. I never had many photos on photobucket. I had saved a lot of them directly to livejournal. But from now on, I want to save everything to flickr.

「夏」ほろ酔い 涼みあんず「夏」お祭り!
Still struggling with conjunctivitis. What the heck, now. It's been a month. It's mostly just the corners of my eyes, so it's been improving, but I don't want to have to go to the doctors a third time. We also seem to have gotten the bug issue under control. Still bug-bite free, save for those pesky mosquitoes!

In the end, I ended up buying another one of the futons I had bought the first time. I realized that the futon was thicker than most futon mattresses, so using two futons would be thicker and result in better sleep when stacked one on top of the other. Then, whenever Ryu came to stay over, I could simply separate the two and put them side by side, so we'd both have plenty of sleeping room. He seemed really happy with my decision, ruffled my hair and congratulated me on sometimes having good ideas (lol). He even decided that we had to "go at it" twice because now both futons had to be "broken in," but I had no complaints with that 〃゜∀゜ゞ

After going to buy his Jinbei, we decided to grab a couple of drinks at the コンビニ and enjoy them at home by the fan as we watched S -- 最後の警官, which came out in 2014, with a movie released in 2015. He'd seen the drama, but not the movie, and I hadn't seen either, so it was a good choice for both of us. But now after we watch the movie next weekend, we'll have to pick another series to watch. Anyway, I'm not big on alcohol anymore, and never grab more than two drinks a month. We had drinks at Hardrock for our anniversary, so for our last drink of the month, Ryu had a Smirnoff and I had a perfectly sweetened Apricot cocktail. It was only 3% but boy did it make me sleepy!

We checked out what festivals will be going on in our area. There are bigger festivals going on farther away from home and we've decided to go to some of those firework shows, but we want to try and stay local this time around, since the weather feels so much hotter this year. We want to try to go to all of them, but we aren't sure if that's do-able just yet. Now that Ryu has a jinbei though, he's all for hitting the まつり scene, and more than willing to try hitting them all. The fireworks show on the 30th is actually within walking distance of my flat, so we're definitely going to that, even though we can watch it from the veranda.

The thing with the new layout of my room is that now, my bed rests right next to my bookshelf. It means I spend a lot more time reading than I used to, since books are only an arms reach away. Grab a bottle of water, switch on the fan, lay down and lose myself for hours. I thought that my weight would probably go up from lack of exercise, but on the contrary, I've been eating less through out the week, but really chowing down on the weekends and my body has been reacting to it in an odd way. Yesterday alone, Ryu and I had a serving of pasta, a slice of pizza, nuggets, fries, and some ice cream. We did nothing but lay in bed all day as I mentioned, aside from that. And this morning, I weighed 1kg lighter than I did at the start of the weekend. Luck. Okay, rewind. I spend more time reading than I used to. Between today and yesterday, I bruned through A Walk to Remember, which surprised me by being quite different from the movie I had grown up loving. Next will be some Japanese manga for language balance, then either Wicked or P.S. I love you. Easy reads, but I can't be too picky, since English books in my area are limited.

Sometimes I wish I had a book-daddy to just hand me random books and say "Read this," then discuss them with me. Most of my friends don't read, and the one that does is mostly in to Junior level sci-fi things I can never seem to get in to. A girl can dream.

Naming Names

S has just posted to say she doesn't think she likes using her name as her DW account and is asking her flist how they came up with their usernames. I thought that was quite an interesting question and it makes me want to ask you guys How did you come up with your username?

Mine is based off the character Lucifer Morningstar from the TV show Lucifer. The basic premise of the show is that Lucifer got bored of hell, left, is running a nightclub in LA and working with a homicide detective. He makes no secret of who he is, goes by the name of Lucifer Morningstar. One of his brothers, Amenadiel, calls him Lucy which I love because... well because it's name.

And so... [personal profile] lucymorningstar is me
although Morningstar clearly isn't my surname. (For anyone who's wondering, I changed it by deedpoll a few years ago so it's Anderson, the same as J and S)

An actual update!

If I just start posting like normal, no-one will notice I haven't been posting regularly, right?

Hello friends. Sorry for disappearing on you. Everything went crazy around here and I've been really struggling with my health because I've been so stressed out. And the one thing that seems to get dropped is finding time to do things that I enjoy. It's a really bad habit of mine that when I go into survival mode, I forget about me. And blogging/journalling is really good for my mental health, it helps me try to gt things out of my head and into a way that I can try and make sense of. So my bad habit of neglecting myself is something I really want to start working on and I'm going to bring it up with my new therapist.

Yes, a new one. One of the crazy things thats happening around here is that we're moving. I'm really stressed about it :(
S has been headhunted and has changed jobs but it's down in Cardiff so we're moving. We're supposed to be moving around August bank holiday Monday and then S is due to start her new job in September. She's really excited more it's more pure physics-centric than her current role which is more engineering based.

But!
Because there's always a but, right?
A couple of weeks ago, she broke her leg really badly. Like had to have pins put it in badly and was told that she has to have a cast on for 'at least three months' which takes her up to the beginning of September so she doesn't even know if she's going to be able to start taking her classes when the semeste starts

I'm really stressed for her but she's of the view that what will be will be, if she can't start classes in the Autumn semester, she'll start in Spring. Her new boss knows that she's injured and out of action and they're just taking it as it comes.

Mostly, she's just bored. That can be quite fun for me and J haha. She's getting better at getting around on crutches so we're hoping to be able to do some family activities over the summer. We've been doing a lot of 'Netflix and chill' and we're doing a Doctor Who rewatch which is fun. She's also got herself a DW which is [personal profile] samanderson. And she's learning to knit - and so am I!

Well. This post seems to have mostly been about S and I think I've rambled enough for today. Have a good week!
